Forum Status and another Welcome

Post by Dan74 » Sat Nov 18, 2017 10:08 pm

Hello Members new and old, all 14 of you or so!

WELCOME!!!!!!! This zen place is your place and your contributions are what's going to make it or break it.

A few words about the Forum status, which is constantly evolving.

1. Currently I am quite sure this place is not getting pulled down. This was my reason for offering to step in as an owner. So hopefully this encourages people to post, since (barring malicious attacks or some unforeseen technical glitch) it is going to be here tomorrow. And hopefully more technically savvy people will come on board to ensure that the Forum is secure.

2. At the moment, the Forum has no rules and no moderation. However, this will probably need to change at some stage. The priority, however, is to attract more members and to foster an open welcoming environment that respects the Zen tradition and supports Zen practice as well as dispels various misconceptions that abound online. My preference has always been to keep various rooms for various purposes - from the fairly formal committed current practitioners to the free-wheeling self-styled zennies. Respecting where you are and the nature of the discourse usually does the trick and there should be room for a wide variety of styles.

3. I am happy to pass the reins to the right person and hopefully this will happen sooner rather than later. In the meantime, I am mostly spending time reaching out to all the various Zen folks I can to entice them to come over and get involved. If you can, please do this too. Hopefully this will become one heck of a Forum!

Thank you, boki.

Yes, been talking to Meido and I hope he will have an active role.

And... password recovery works now I believe as well as the email feature.

Isn't great on my Android phone yet, but one day...

The "Bump interval" (number of hours between the last post to a topic and the ability to bump that topic) is set to 3 hours.
Nice feature, that.
